CHARLOTTE SMYTH

Inspired by the delicate petticoats, lace detailing and exquisite femininity circa Gone with the wind, Charlotte began her love affair with art from a young age.

Great grandfather, Australian artist Harry Ivers painted with George Lambert during WW1, laying the paving stones for future generations to carry on his legacy.

Passionate about bringing whimsical concepts to life, much of Charlotte's style reflects the contrast between innocence and unbridled sexuality. Encouraged by her love of porcelain dolls and clothing design, Charlotte's artistic aim is to create symbolism related to various concepts (innocence, sadness, beauty, love, childishness) through her doll-like figurines.

The clothing worn by the characters transforms the average girl into a fantasy life figure, equipped in clothes we could never imagine for daily wear.

Charlotte's illustrations in children's books are reflective of the strong design elements, eye for detail and fantastical imagery unique to her style.
